Day 1 – Travel to Hong Kong

So Chris turned up at 1:00 to start our journey to the Jamboree via Hong Kong. we picked up Nutt and Fiona and set off for the airport, we were soon at Heathrow and boarding our Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong.

We arrived in Hong Kong at 1:30 local time (8 hours ahead) after little sleep, we headed for the bus and our trip into Kowloon where we met with our hosts father who let us in to the apartment we have rented for the next 4 days. It’s on the 13th floor, 2 bedrooms one with a double bed for Fiona and me and the other lads in the second bedroom, Chris and Nutt in the bunk beds!!

We freshened up and headed out finding the MTR or underground and catching the train down to Central Hong Kong, surround outed by the skyscrapers of the financial district.

Heading along the banks of the bay and caught the Star Ferry across the bay at HK$2.80 about 20p the best value for money sight seeing cruise in the world.

we made our way back by foot to Kowloon and found a restaurant to eat in, pretty basic but full of locals, always a good sign, and we weren’t disappointed, we ordered as we would in the UK and were we surprised! Loads of food but we managed most of it, surprising how hungry we were. Finally we popped into the 7 Eleven for a few cans of beer to help us settle down for an early night.
