Well it’s 4 years since my last blog when I was at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan. This time is different..
In October 2017 myself and a group of Leaders chose 45 Young People, Scouts and Explorers to become members of the Gloucestershire Unit for the 24th World Scout Jamboree to be held in West Virginia.
Over the last 2 years we have worked with these Young People and having lost and gained a few along the way now have 5 patrols of amazing Young People. Each person has had to raise £4,000 and they’ve all worked really hard, bag packing, car parking and selling all kinds of stuff.
The Seven Boars is made up of 36 Explorers and 4 Leaders, myself, Chris, Alex and Gareth. Double Blue as 9 Explorers and 1 Leader, Matt from Gloucestershire and 3 other Leaders, Sue, Katie and Justin with 27 Explorers from Shropshire.
On Friday we held our last meeting before we leave at the beautiful Gloucester Cathedral, we had a tour including a trek up the tower, followed by a short blessing and then a final Q&A, some photos before saying “see you in a weeks time!”.
So in 6 days time we start our 3 week adventure. I hope to be able to blog every day, this is primarily selfish, having been on 5 Jamborees before in the early days I didn’t record what I did and after a while you forget what you’ve done. In Sweden and Japan having the blog was great it helped me record what I did and strangely friends and family back home were interested in what I was getting up to.
